25 Ways To Be Positive In The New Year

We are four days into 2016, and I am sure that goals have been set and resolutions have been made. This year I decided to not set any New Year resolutions or write down any goals. I obviously have goals I want to meet by the end of the year. However, I am really bad at following through with resolutions, so I decided to pass on them this year.

However, if there is one thing that we can all relate to, it is stress. We all at one point or another experience some form of stress. So this year, instead of the usual goals and resolution listing, I’ve come up with 25 ways to be positive in the New Year to help us live a more positive and stress free life.

  1. Credit yourself for strengths and accomplishments.
  2. Get a full night’s rest.
  3. Get up earlier.
  4. Plan ahead.
  5. Stop procrastinating.
  6. Be flexible.
  7. Think before you act.
  8. Set priorities.
  9. Talk less – listen more.
  10. Set clear goals.
  11. Avoid negative people (big one).
  12. Stop negative self-talk (bigger one).
  13. Think positive talk.
  14. Manage your time wisely.
  15. Exersice.
  16. Be optimistic.
  17. Keep a Journal.
  18. Smile.
  19. Say no more often.
  20. Take some time off.
  21. Know your limits.
  22. Indulge in a spa day now and then.
  23. Eat healthy.
  24. Go out with your friends/family.
  25. Believe in yourself.

Life is too short to live a stressful life. Take a breath! Make 2016 a stress free year. I am not saying setting goals and resolutions are a bad thing. If those work for you, by all means, go ahead and set them. I would also follow the above list to live a less stressful life!

Happy New Year! I hope 2016 is everything you want and hope for it to be!

These are great tips! Sometimes we get so caught up in the stress of everyday life that we forget to slow down and enjoy it. Cheers!

  13. January 4, 2016 / 7:15 pm

I’m trying really hard to be more confident and stop with the negative self-talk. It feels like such a battle with myself and I wish it didn’t have to be that way.

    • January 5, 2016 / 12:33 am

Becky! Just make a conscious effort towards positive talk. You can do it!

  14. January 4, 2016 / 8:06 pm

These are great reminders as so many people start the new year out with great intentions but settle in to old habits quickly then become so down on themselves. Really loud music and an evening dance party help me shake off the funk and return to a positive mindset. 🙂

    • January 5, 2016 / 12:37 am

I must try the dance party and loud music! Not sure what my neighbors would say! But, I will definitely give this a shot! Happy New Year Jamie!

Love these tips. A lot of them are simple and obtainable, while some will take more work but will certainly pay off. Personally, I’m working on the get more sleep thing. – Katy

    • January 5, 2016 / 12:39 am

I know how you feel, I have been going to bed at 3 am, school is about to begin, so I should probably stop doing that! Happy New Year Katy!

  16. January 4, 2016 / 11:31 pm

I’m also quite awful at sticking to my goals but I have set some for this year in writing and I’m hoping that helps me actually achieve them!

    • January 5, 2016 / 12:44 am

I have some listed in my head, I hope that maybe I will follow through with them this year. Good Luck with your goals Julia!!

  17. January 5, 2016 / 10:11 am

I love the idea of simply being positive going into the new year, rather than having goals for the whole year I am focusing on going month by month and just staying focused…

    • January 6, 2016 / 11:27 am

I completely agree with you Nancy. If I had set resolutions, I would have already failed them 6 days in!!

  18. January 5, 2016 / 9:17 pm
